Statement by the Rektor of Cenderawasih University for the launch of Papuaweb

On behalf of Cenderawasih University, I would like to express my sincere appreciation
for the efforts related to the launching of Papuaweb, as the realization of the
Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the Research Institutes of Cenderawasih
University and the Australian National University, on 27 September 2001.

It is our hope that, on one hand, the presence of Papuaweb will help in facilitating
access to scientific information on Papua, both to the intellectual benefit of scholars
and for those who are interested in the physical and socio-cultural aspects of Papua
Province; on the other hand, it is hoped that Papuaweb will provide relevant information
to government and non-government bodies regarding the development of the province.

It is my hope that scholars and students with an interest in the future development
of Papua will make maximum use of this website to broaden and deepen their understanding
and appreciation of this province.
